Background

Bernoulli | Locke is focused on creating and investing in member-based businesses organized around passions and experiences. They invite individuals to explore their interests in new ways by utilizing the tools of Web3 to create unique and innovative community engagement and to invest in and own businesses leveraging the benefits of a DAO to better serve their passions.

Strategy

Bernoulli | Locke partnered with Larry Ellison’s SailGP and the NEAR protocol to create the first-ever, fan-owned sailing team. The team is a model for the future of sports ownership – through careful consideration the teams have laid the groundwork for how the industry will look at ownership going forward, a transfer of power from the ultra-wealthy to the general public that drives the fandom.

Virgo’s task was to build public awareness around the partnership and launch of a fan-owned team – we did this by fleshing out a media relations campaign to top targets including business outlets, and sailing and crypto trades. The team also worked to identify speaking opportunities for Bernoulli | Locke’s founder and CEO, David Palmer, which resulted in a cross-country campaign to educate the public on how they could have a stake in the future of sports ownership.

Results

Following a successful media campaign, the Virgo team secured coverage in publications including Forbes, CoinDesk, Sail-World, Sports Business, Decrypt, and the Robb Report. The team has built credibility around Palmer on the topic of sports ownership. David has spoken at a number of events including the NBA All-Stars Game, ETH Denver, and The Miami International Boat Show. As a result, the fan-owned team has gained popularity and is well on its way to being sold out.
